(meteorobs) Perseid Meteor Report

After we had rain all day on Wednesday in Oklahoma, then the skies
cleared and it rained Perseids. This was one of the best Perseid
showers I have seen since the 90's. They were fast and left many
trains. One train lasted over 10 seconds after the meteor had
disappeared. Many of us didn't see the actual meteor but was able to
watch the train as it slowly disappeared. Here is my report.

Observer: David Stine - Observing Chairman of Astronomy Club of Tulsa
Date: August 11-12, 2004
Location: Ranch 20 miles northwest of Pawhuska, Ok.
36 d 57m 32 sec 96 d 33.7
Limiting Mg. Average 7.0
Times of Observation : 02:37:00UT - 09:25:00UT
Observing Area of Sky: Mostly between Perseus and Pegasus 90% NE 10%
to the South
Hanger in the East was only obscuring object so only 5% of Sky obscured.
Total number of Meteors Observed : 173 Perseids 165 Kappa Cygs 3
Sporadics 5

Mg. Totals -4:2 -3:2 -2:11 -1:30 0:82 +1:30 +2:15 +3:1

I have broken my report into 10 minute segments. Since I concentrated
on Perseids primarily everything else that I considered not a Perseid
going against Perseid are listed as Sporadic, unless I was sure of the
shower.
