Here is a summary of my FINAL night in the Keys - just before Charley
forced me to face the heat and bugs up in the Glades instead. :)
As before, any comments or questions welcomed! Note that this night was
ONLY counting - I had stopped plotting meteors the previous night...
Also note, I chose to divide my night into 3 periods of a full 1.0 hour
each (effective observing Time or "Teff" = 1.00), and one short "buttend"
period at the end... (This math is very easy to do with my spreadsheet!)
This is the old AMS style for dividing up observing periods: normally,
I believe that the IMO prefers to have all periods LEAST a full hour -
even if that means some periods may be nearly 2 hours as a result?
Also note, I once again was NOT trying to count the "NIA" shower...
Clear skies all!
Lew Gramer

GENERAL COMMENTS ABOUT SESSION (Use as many lines as needed below this one)
================================================================================
Observed the first two hours with casual observer Gilayn Halil - my sister! :)
The two nephews were snug in their sleeping bags by 11:50 LMT when I began.
A very, very beautiful session, with roaring ocean wind and few mosquitos.
Avg 10% (later 5%) obstruction was drifting stratocumulus - a Keys specialty.
The only other annoyance (besides moonrise) was a massive thunderhead.
It sat down in the Florida strait blasting my eyes with lightening for hours.
At its largest, Gegenschein was HUGE - I measured it at 35o by 18o!
I had never noticed it being this large before... Quite fascinating to me.
Mira (if I have it identified right) looked to be at about mag 4.5 tonight.
