Larry:
    You got the "COOL" part right.  I was stationed in Cold Lake for a time
and I'm not use to -30 - -40 below anymore.  That's why I retired on
Vancouver Island! ;-)  Even then, auroras could wash things out.  Satellite
tracking with the Baker Nunn often had to shut down.
