That's five a.m on the first Monday in January, right? How inviting. I am
just about perverse enough to rise to the challenge. Indeed, I have every
intention of being out there if at all possible. That said, at at the moment
here in Edmonton it's minus 22 Celsius with a 15 k north wind, heavy overcast
yielding light snow. By Sunday it's supposed to warm up to minus 16 or so with
some breaks in the clouds. So I'll be out there if I can, I really enjoyed the
Quads in 2003.

Just a reminder to those of you 'overnighters' on the list, to watch for
the pair of inferior planets rising together low in the southeast. Mercury and
Venus will stay within a degree or so for almost three weeks, a marathon by
Mercury's normal fleeting standards. Might make a nice background for anybody
doing meteor photography.

   regards, Bruce
