Hello all,
Last night (08-10-2004) I was able to observe the Giacobinids from the
Groevenbeekse Heide (a moor) near Ermelo, the Netherlands. Due to some very
thin patches of cirrus between 19:05 and 19:40 UT and after 20:00 UT some
banks of fog reduce limithing magnitude to a variable of 6,3 and 6,4.
At the beginning of my watch I was again visited by a owl. It was spinning
around in western direction, but when I look at the lcd display of my dcf
clock, it saw me and flew to me. It watched me for a few seconds hanging two
or three meters above me. What a strange person lies there, he must think...
During this 2.00 hour period I watched 17 meteors of which one was a
Giacobinid (mag +3) and a very nice orange +1 Taurid (20:58 UT).
Below you find my data.
Best wishes,
Koen Miskotte
