Hello,
I observed this night 22/23 Oct. During Teff~1.75 h I saw three swift
meteors and one of moderate speed, coming from Ursa Major and Ursa
Minor region. Also, Orionids showed very variable activity, from quite
notable to nearly absent. My total result is 34 meteors, mostly
Orionids, under lm=5.5 mag sky. Complete report will be sent later.
Best regards, Mikhail Maslov
PM> This Wednesday morning (October 19/20) I enjoyed a productive meteor
PM> session under dark skies at the Bootland Farm site (west of Ottawa).
PM> The skies were crystal clear with a decent transparency. The zodiacal
PM> light was of equal brightness and intensity to the Winter Milky Way.
PM> The temperature was to the freezing point so I was glad to have my big
PM> sleeping bag to stay warm. At one point, I spilled some coffee on my
PM> table and it froze within mere minutes. In the 3 hours effective time,
PM> I recorded as many as 78 meteors. The Orionids were the most active
PM> source with 35 seen. The remaining activity consisted of 3 Epsilon
PM> Geminids, 4 North Taurids, 2 South Taurids, 1 Delta Aurigid and 33
PM> sporadics. I also noticed 6 meteors that seemed to radiate from the
PM> north (an area somewhere around Ursa Major and Ursa Minor). I have
PM> seen these meteors a couple years ago on this date. Has anyone else
PM> noticed any swift moving meteors coming out of the north?
