it seems we're in a meteor lull at the moment so i'm going to
relay something i saw a few years ago and have wanted to find
out if anyone has a clue as to what i saw...

i was teaching an 'on site' english as a second language course
at a ship building/designing firm about 55 minutes drive from my
house. it was the end of june, 1998. i finished teaching and
got in my car for the tip home. it was rush hour unfortunately
so it was a bit longer ride than i was used to. the sun was
just setting and as i looked toward the western horizon, i saw
this cloud that looked like the letter V. but it wasn't vertical,
it was as if it had fallen flat - laying face down is the best
way i can describe it.

strange formation because of the angle...it was like a fat worm..
how can i describe the size...at arm's length, it was the size of
my thumbnail.

i kept watching this cloud the entire way home...it didn't move..
it didn't change shape...it just was stationary...for over an hour.

i thought that it was so strange...it was very well lite because of the
setting sun...the cloud had an 'outline' of golden light from the sun.

what do you think it was? how can a cloud last that long??
