April fireballs! What an excuse to take advantage of a clear, crisp spring
evening --bolide patrol!
So I found myself streched out comfortably in the back of the pickup
enjoying clear views of Saturn, Jupiter and a handful of meteors from 9:12
until 11:12 PM local time. It was too late in to day to be looking for an
Ivory-Bill flyover from the nearby cypress swamp, but I could always hope to
be next in line for a fireball, after all, there's been no shortage lately.

No verifiable fireballs were seen in my two hour watch, but at 3:05 UT a
bright flash at 7hrs 40 +34, just above Castor, caught my attention -- from
about 45 degrees or more DCV. It lasted less than a second and was at -7,
roughly. I detected no motion and there were no other subsequent flashes.
If was a fireball, it was a point meteor. I didn't list it in my report --
having been seen so indirectly there was no way to determine what it was.
