Robert and All,

I'm too much a novice to have a good answer but on the AMS website
page for the Perseids (http://www.amsmeteors.org/visual.html#Perseids)
the author states:

"Personally, I like to view above the radiant at this time and then
have it move through my field of view as the night progresses. This
basically means that I face northeast at an altitude of 45 degrees the
entire night."

I've seen meteors as much as 20 to 40 degrees from the radiant. So the
whole sky is the limit. Hopefully someone more experienced will fill
us in.
