This is the first response to my question about the authenticity if the
exploding meteor photo submitted by Bjorn Sorgeim. Dr. Rob McNaught is a
respected meteor scientist living in Australia. He agrees, that this is NOT
a meteor photograph but suggests it is just a star photo taken on a shaky
telescope mount. With his permission I am posting his message to this news
group.

Hi,
This is very clearly, in my view, camera shake affecting a star image.
It is equally clearly nothing to do with a meteor. I've imaged many
meteors with telescopes of several metres focal length and also seen
telescope shake in similar telescopes. This is the latter.
Cheers, Rob
