I am new to this meteor mailinglist. Joined after having visited the site displaying the meteor observation done in Norway. Those images are stunning.

I believe the the disintegrating meteor image is real, and shows an incoming exploding meteor.
The meteor is in my opinion the only object visible because only the meteor was bright enough given the conditions. The photographer used a small telescope, short exposure, and the night sky was luminated by the moon.

I do not share the opinions from The Norwegian Astronomical Societys' representatives Stiene, and Andresen. What they describe as "star trails" are hot pixel groupings. I find them on the picture even on the mountainside..both vertically and horizontal. Those pixel groupings are most visible on the inverted image on the bottom of the page. Hot pixels are a common problem in CCD imaging. Secondly and unfortunately the email from Andresen to the list worries me. To me it reminds me of "hunt the dog", and bears clear signs of envy.

If that wasn't enough Stiene has taken the image and put it on his website marked it with circles to prove his point, and the funniest thing of all Adnresen asked for Stienes permission to use the image...whew..wouldn't it be more logical to ask the photographer?

For all it is worth this look like a meteor to me.
