Poor weather on May 6 and 7 meant I had to postpone any ETA
observations until the weekend...which also meant observing under less than
ideal conditions at the Bay Minette, AL, city airport. I won't go into the
details about the miserable LM's so close to the city, except to note that a
gibbous moon may have well as been out!!! In addition, the sky was not
transparent, but hazy, and a fog was rolling in, though fortunately the fog
didn't seem to be the worst factor until late in the session.
Still, the ETAs I did see were, for the most part, quite impressive.
Most had long, glowing trains and color, and were bright. The first meteor
of the night was an ETA earth grazer(?) that did not have much of a train
but zipped across the zenith from near horizon to horizon! It was probably
the highlight of the night, but at +3, not the brightest.
Three of the ETAs I logged were at zero magnitude.
