I enjoyed another successful two-hour session observing
the Taurids this morning, one day after the nominal STA "peak"
and found the rates for the Southern Taurids still quite active
and bright. I began the session at 1:14 AM local time, with
the Taurids at culmination, which probably afforded me better
rates from the STAs as opposed to my more typical pre-dawn
schedule for observing. An attempt at observing the previous
night was aborted as clouds unexpectedly appeared in spite
of forecasts to the contrary.
The STA rates were on a very equal footing with the SPOs,
while the NTAs stood at their more normal <5/hr rate. Only
one negative magnitude STA was seen, but it was a nice -4 that
appeared oh-so-briefly just at the southern horizon at 2:25 AM.
Quite a few 0 and +1 STAs were observed, their overall r-value
tilted firmly towards the bright end.
