Despite the fact that the Leonids are not due to be within
their "normal" parameters until the 14th, my observation
this morning on the 13th at least "seemed" to be chock
full of Leonids -- no less than 6 candidates aligned with the
radiant during my second hour (none were seen the first hour).
Two were medium speed, but were close to the radiant,
the others were fast and trained. I was glad to see Javor help
confirm these rates in his last report!
The Taurids were quite calm, with only 3 NTAs and 1 STA
spotted -- the radiant was lower tonight as I observed later,
and the moon was out for the first period (I miscalculated my moonset
and had to endure poor LMs as a result for half the session!!)
As a result, my rates were low the first period, but rebounded
nicely the second period -- but with virtually no help from the Taurids.
In fact I saw no negative magnitude meteors during the watch
but had a bright flash at 09:36 UT -- yet nothing was seen directly.
