NEW RADIO FIREBALL EVENT IMAGE DATABASE LAUNCHED

It's often quite interesting to compare fireball reports from widely spaced
observers. Some radio observers across Europe and further afield have been
doing this via email for some time, but it was difficult to quickly place
the images side-by-side to study the FFT plots together.

A decision was made to find or make an image database for storing and
studying fireball events, that was easy to upload to and to administer.
Yahoo's Flickr seemed to fit the bill, so a "Pro" account has been opened.

The web address for the fireball database is
http://www.flickr.com/photos/radiofireballs

Images can be uploaded by email, and they appear instantly in the database.
Radio observers using Spectrum Lab software can even fully automate the
image uploading process. The database currently has four contributors (Andy
Smith, David Entwistle, Patrick Vanouplines and Christian Staeyert). More
are needed!

Radio observers with suitable image capture setups are invited to join in.
The database may be viewed by anyone. If you're interested in uploading your
own FFT images of fireballs, please contact the database administrator -
Andy Smith, using this link: http://tinyurl.com/29nhd. Note that there'll be
a small admin fee to pay (annually) for contributors wishing to upload.
