Despite the fact that I was still recovering from a nasty cold,
I couldn't resist the clear skies which beckoned for a possible
peek at Xi Bootid meteors. So at three AM I found myself sniffling
under a breezy but exceptionally clear dome of stars. The first
XBO candidate was bright and swift as it passed through LEO at
08:03 UT, near the beginning of my watch. I would see 5 XBO
candidates, and four Eclipticids, but no Theta Centaurids which I
also had on my list. Eighteen SPOs were observed during the two-hour
session. All-in-all, a pretty good sprinkling of meteors appeared
throughout the
watch. The brightest was a -1 SPO at 09:37.

Hopefully other observers were out or we'll have some positive
video results from the weekend for this moon-free return of the XBOs.
