While setting up the telescope for the late session many of the viewers (12
in all) ooowed and aaahed at the sudden spate of meteor activity. I was
therefore only a witness to some of the meteors. They occurred in a sudden
flurry between 12h30 to 01h00 local time in South Africa on Sunday Morning
25th June 2006. We are located at Pretoria in South Africa. The radiant
appears to have been coming distinctly from Pavo with most of the
spectacular bright falls (almost but not quite fireballs) lighting up the
north western horizon in Libra and Serpens Caput. The meteors were faster
than the leonids in comparison and with a hint of blue green colour.
Amongst us the average count of meteors seen was 25.
