I had better luck this morning obtaining clear skies, and as a result
enjoyed a three-hour session from 1:45 - 4:45 local time. The first period
proved to be the busiest, with no fewer than 5 antihelion meteors seen, and
10 sporadics. In all, 36 meteors were observed. Throughout the session I
had a number of swift meteors that all aligned *roughly* with the area
bordering on Cygnus and Pegasus. Very apex-like.
At 6:09 UT during the first period, I enjoyed a truely memorable meteor;
a swift, trained earthgrazer that took 5 or 6 seconds to cross almost the
entire length of the sky, laying down an incredibly long persistant train of
about 2-3 seconds behind it. Wow! It shone at magnitude +2.
