Hello,
I monitored any possible activity from the October Camelopardalids from my
backyard. The sky was very transparent due to a front passage and the sky only
cleared during the evening. I observed casually (the near-full Moon made things
quite bright) under LM5.7 to 6.1 (near moonset). I also operated a Nikon D70
with a 18mm f/3.5 lens at ISO1600 to capture any bright events. Observing took
place from 1:30 to 4:05 UT. In about 1.5h casual observations I saw two 0.
magnitude OCAs, the final hour was spent at the telescope observing comets SWAN
and Levy. No sporadics were seen. I also captured no less than 5 probable OCAs
and will send the images to Javor for analysis. 3 of them appeared between 3:06
and 3:46 UT. All of the imaged meteors were probably at least magnitude 0. or
brighter.
Clear skies!
Jure A.
