My two cents.

Information on the January 12, 1947 fireball may be located in one of
two data bases.

The years 1946 and 1947 was the beginning of a human awaking with
science and science fiction. An awaking with seeing the bright flash
in the sky.

A quick search with google indicated that the years 1946 and 1947 for
meteors and fireballs were to open viewing meteors with a choice that
lead to the fork in the road.

Serious meteor research or ufo research.

First off -- there was the strong interest in jet powered flight. Late
in the second world war, the introduction of jet planes by the Germans
and Japanese. And later the British and the United States and Russia
soon followed. Google search indicates the early exploits of the British
jet the -- METEOR. Those that saw the plane in the night certainly must
have been struck with the awe -- early area 51 stuff.

Then there was the early research on radio meteors. A 'QST' 1946
article titled 'Listening in on the Stars' with this line taken out of
context ".. it is possible to 'hear' these visitors from outer space..'
But if read to its completion, radio meteor research is born.

Then there is the meteor activity of 1946 and 1947, with the fall of a
meteorite in Russia 12 February 1947. And a green meteor in 1947 in the
Americas. A flying wing in June 24, 1947, labeled and still believed
to day to be a flying saucer.

The stuff in the sky got fuzzy in July 1947 with Roswell.

If there is any information on the meteor in question for January 12,
1947, it may be found in 'Operation Sign' (1947-1948) or the later
project called. 'Operation Blue Book.'

Ok, enough. Tonight in my community is trick or treat and a Halloween
parade.
