Apologies first....

Not being a Physisist, I have revisted my mental modeling Earths magnetic & electostatic fields an am asking opinion of these models which might be effected by Meteors. My apology if off-topic. There is no way I can personlly contact those who I do not know.

I believe a model which satisfies the ELF/ VLF propogation detected, can also satisfy electrophonic sound if the earth is conceived as a "ball" with SPHERES within spheres surrounding it. These outer spheres would be relative increases in electrostatic voltage that are progressively higher than any of the inner spheres.

Also coexistant with the electrostatic spheres in this model are the geo-magnetic fields. These are modelled as CYLINDERS within cylinders(roughly), because of earths polarized N-S axis.

Using this dual model a charged object in motion(like a meteor), would cause localized curvature(major dimples) in the electric spheres as the meteor passed through. At the same time, the meteor being a tail charged object in motion would create its own magnetic field (i.e., "Right-Hand rule" in electronics). The meteors motion would cause localized flexure in the earths magnetic field by aiding & opposing earths lines of flux at right angles to its travel axis.

The momentary "flexing" electric field and the "flexing" magnetic field are at right angles which is a requirement of RF propogation and could result in RF signal.

If EITHER, (or both) of an electric sphere or magnetic cylinder are flexed all the way to the surface of the earth from a meteor, it could create the illusive electrophonic phenomena either individually or jointly.

Lastly, if these flexures when "snapping back" have OVERTRAVEL, like "ring-off" or "damping", it would result in the vibratory sound sometimes described by witnesses.

Possibly a layman visualization of electric & magnetic fields as nearly straight lines between two points could be inhibiting an understanding, or timely solution to the phenomena.
