Here's the latest from NASA Science News on the Aurigids. I particularly
like the part about "The brief shower was remarkable both for its **conspicuous
lack of faint meteors** and for the vivid colors--characteristics that may be
repeated on Sept. 1st."

This news flash is promising in that the luminaries named therein are among
the best and the brightest in meteor science. While the forecast is by
definition something of a shot in the dark, let's hope it doesn't fizzle and
that we'll see delight.

   Bruce :~)

NASA Science News for August 8, 2007

On Sept. 1st, a flurry of bright and oddly-colored meteors could spill across
the skies of western North America--or not. Forecasters are divided about what
will happen next month when Earth runs into an ancient stream of debris from
mysterious Comet Kiess.
