Yes, Mark, I agree about the Kappa Cygs. I had rather less than ideal conditions for observing so I didn't do any official work, but I was out last night (Aug 12/13) from midnight to 1:30 and saw only 7 meteors: 3 Perseids, 2 KCGs, and 2 sporadics. But the KCGs were unbelievable! One went off like a flashbulb and must have been at least a -6, and the other was also quite bright at about a -1. The Perseids were rather plain in comparison.
I'm looking for the KCGs again tonight!

Subject: (meteorobs) Perseids in South Carolina
After two nights of watching heavy clouds move through and listening to
thundershowers rattling the windows, I finally got a good 4 hours of
observing in last night under fair conditions. There were a few clouds
drifting by every once in a while, but more troublesome was the poor LMs due
to lots of heat and humidity. The Perseids seemed to have performed about as
I expected, but the KCGs seemed to be more numerous than what I looked for.
Unfortunately, as soon as I returned home I had to head into work so have
not transcribed my data yet and can not confirm any of this. There are also
quite a few Perseid reports in my inbox, but both will have to wait a little
until I get some sleep.
