Those interested in VLF observations of meteors and fireballs as a radio
noise source and not electrophonic sound observation may want to
review the following, a recent publication by Martian Beech, Meteors and
Meteorites, origins and observations, 2006, Crowood Press. It is
available on line or check with local book store. Chapter seven is
devoted to radio observation, including VLF observations.

Also on line there is early research by other observers, google "vlf
meteor".

Those engaged in the nonelectrophonic observation are at best on the
fringe, it is split 50/50 whether or not all meteors produce a vlf
signature. Fireballs of -6 mag or better are a the best candidates to
hear a meteor. But there are a number of factors in the propagation of
the created VLF signature as to whether or not a signal is heard.

Good luck.
