Is everyone in the Western U.S. and Hawaii aware of the unique
event expected for the night Aug. 31/Sep. 1? Today (Aug. 30) a big
meeting of airborne and groundbased observers took place at the
SETI Institute in Mtn. View, California: Two airplanes full of
advanced instruments will fly East to West 300 km apart while groups
from N. Ireland and Germany will work scores of video cameras from
Lick Observatory and Fremont Peak here in CA. Minutes ago we have
coordinated several double station set-ups - but *many* more observers
just doing counts either visually or via video with a time resolution
of a few minutes would be *most* welcome! Please go out and observe,
despite the bright Moon: If you face towards Polaris, for example,
it's out of direct view. This is the chance of a lifetime - see
aurigid.seti.org and the many links therein.
