             Post-maximum Geminids from Greenbelt, Maryland
               December 14/15, 2007 - 390016N 0765233W

Because of the prospects for bad weather in Mathias, West Virginia on
Saturday night, I decided to observe the Geminids locally in Greenbelt,
Maryland, despite the marginal conditions, on Friday/Saturday night
December
14/15. I was hoping to get two hours in, but haze and clouds put an end to
my session after 90 minutes. However, with a LM that varied from 5.0 to 4.4
(4.7 average), I was still able to see an impressive number of bright
Geminids.

From 3:05 UT to 4:35 UT, I was able to see 20 Geminids, with an average
brightness of 1.0 magnitude! I was also able to see a few Antihelions,
a couple Monocerotids, and one lone Sigma Hydrid. The best Geminids were
a -2 blue-green beauty seen at 3:43 UT, and a nice -3 yellow-green one
seen at 3:56 UT. This was a pretty good show considering the haze and light
pollution. Below is a short brakedown of what was observed.
