(meteorobs) meteor shower radiants

Folks,

at the last IMC, I presented results of a first automatic meteor shower search
that has been carried out based on the IMO Video Meteor Database.

In principle, the search consists of two stages.

- at first, all possible meteor shower radiants are computed for a given solar
longitude interval (that's the time-consuming part)
- then, nearby radiants from consecutive solar longitude intervals are linked in
search for meteor showers (that takes just a few seconds)

So far, only the list of meteor showers was presented as the final result.
However, it turned out that there are further showers in the data not found
during the search (e.g. because they were of too short duration). An fine
example was the tau Ursa Majorid shower detected by Japanese observers last
October.

For this reason I decided to make also the list of radiants from the first stage
availabe now. You can access the data at
http://www.metrec.org/imc06/radiants.html.

If you have a certain radiant hypothesis and would like to confirm or reject it
from an independent data set, feel free to check the presented radiant list.
However, beware that only the strongest radiants on top of each list will be
real, whereas all weaker ones are only by chance alignments of meteors.

Best,
Sirko Molau
