I have a 10" dobsonian.  I built a wooden box(same size as it came in) 
with wheels. I have taken it on a 1200 mile road trip with no problems.  
Road trip included unpaved rough dirt roads.

I prefer the Big Giant Binoculars(from Orion) for the ease of use and
