I really like this line: "A local resident saw [a meteorite] by chance near
a fence outside his house...[at] first, the man used the find from space to
drive nails."
Clearly some remedial training in meteorite recovery and care may be
required. :)

BARNAUL, May 7 (Itar-Tass) - Experts of Kosmopoisk (Space Search)
organization and volunteers have begun search for a meteorite that fell
in the southwest of the Altai region on January 10, 2007. Hundreds of
onlookers within a range of 150 kilometers saw a huge fiery ball rushing
down with a loud sizzling noise.
"The search for the meteorite could not have been started earlier
because of deep snow and heavy frost," Kosmopoisk coordinator Vadim
Chernobrov told Tass...

I didn't see anything about the original meteor event, but there were a
number of fireball reports at the time.
