Results of the IMO Video Meteor Network - April 2007

There is just one word to characterize April 2007: WOW!
How else should I describe a month, that was not characterized by the typical
April weather mix of fine and poor weather, but that presented almost
exclusively sunny weather and clear skies to most of Europe instead? A month,
in which 23 camera systems observed for over 2000 hours (which is the
third best result ever) and recorded more than 4500 meteors - about as much
as in April 2004, 2005 and 2006 all together? A month, were 15 camera systems
were operated in over 15 nights, and 5 cameras in even 25 nights and more?
I can't find any better word for this month.
It remains to say, that with Wolfgang Hinz one of our most active observers
had to pause because of maintenance work at his camera. And that was new
as well: The camera Remo1 observed from Ketzuer between March 24 and May 6
without a break. That's 44 nights in a row!
With respect to the meteor activity, the hourly average remained as low as in
March. Only the Lyrids caused significantly enhanced meteor rates.
Esko Lyytinen pointed to a possible minor shower on April 3/4, which could
not be supported by our data. However, this was just the night with fewest
observations in April.
