Guys,

take a look at the proceedings of the Radiometeorschools 2005 and 2006 many of these items are discussed and put on paper! You can order these prints via the website of IMO at www.IMO.net

Just a suggestion for your consideration if you have established a confirmed
direct scatter connection to specific Fireball events on camera.

A research effort into characterizing Fireballs by way of scatter signal
envelope would be unique. These areas of application might be using sideband
trapizoidal modulation shape or something similar(remember the trapizoid on
early post Korean War sideband?) to determine some of the following
possibilities. (I assume you are a radio amateur).

a) Angle of attack, either approaching or receeding,
b) Direction,
c) Velocity (Speed & Direction),
d) Length of any trains as a means of determining its additional effect on
scatter,
e) Mass, or physical ablation diameter/length,
f) Ablation temperature,
g) Additional significant meteor characteristics you may think of....

Putting scatter into a "more structured science" beyond simple detection
would advance knowledge in meteor science. My opinion, however small.

If I had to guess, I would bet this is what Ed Majden is preparing to do
with his new scatter equipment..... Find the relationships. :-)
