Speaking of bright fireballs that don't hit.
I was traveling across the desert near Tucson early one morning in Nov
of 1980 (or maybe 1981) when a huge fireball lit up the sky like
daylight. We even heard it while inside a moving van. I later heard it
was estimated to be the size of a small house and likely bounced off
the atmosphere over the ocean just off the coast of Mexico.
A WOW once in a lifetime event....
