Thank you Chris for sharing a most insightful image of 17P so far as this 
singular event develops.  The definition that appears in this image is 
superb, and the symmetry across the central maximum is reminiscent of a 
non-violent event, where diffusion has predominated until now.  Within a day 
or two, the image would suggest the "coma" will cease being a coma and 
complete detached from the nucleus, best being described as you mention: a 
meteoroid stream.
