I some times feel that the name NASA has in a moniker "never a straight
answer".
It is possible that the geological areas photographed and identified as
"skylights" is a karst area -- limestone layers -- that have been
transformed by water and exposing sink holes and pits several metres
deep.
Yes, NASA caught your attention with the term sky lights.
