We had good clear conditions, but a bright full moon, on the night
before the night
before Christmas. I was able to get in two hours of meteor observing.
The transparency
was good, when I had the moon behind me. There was faint but detectable
activity from
both the Ursid (URS) and Coma Berenicid (COM) meteor showers. All the
COMs were 4th or
5th magnitude, as were most of the Ursids, except one nice 2nd magnitude
URS seen at 9:52
UT, and a 3rd magnitude one seen at 8:34 UT. There were few bright
meteors, and the best
one was a nice 0 magnitide yellow-orange sporadic seen at 9:35 UT. Below
is a short breakdown
of what meteors were observed.
