My observations on January 4, 2008. At a starting time of 06:08 UT and
ending at 09:08 UT (01:08 - 04:08 EST.). Location in Wilmington N.C.
(New Hanover County), Long: 77 deg. 95 min. W and Lat: 34 deg. 25 min.
N.
Elevation at 9 meters.
Method using paper, pen, taking radio, and red flash light.
Observed showers:
Antihelion 116 + 20
Coma Berenicids 188 + 19
Quadrantids 230 + 49
Here are my observations starting with 06:08 UT and at fifteen minute
bins, temp was 20F at the start and 18F at the finish. The sky
transparency was a 3 out of 5 and 5 being best possible, LM 5.2. Facing
north and with eyes looking at 45 deg angle up and with a view from NW
to NE side to side. Teff 2.25 hours. I did note a lack of dim Quads
but, I did have those, did I see that, could have been that this cold
weather was getting to my eyes. I put down info as fast as I could and
as positive as I seen it. One note at 07:17 I saw a double flash
directly overhead and noted first flash was of -2 mag. with second flash
of -3 mag. My peripheral vision saw the flashes off the building that I
was between. Most positive it was an Ant. from trace back to source. All
times in UT time.
