Someone should ask from the nasa and the military that they point on
some meteor shower those pieces of equipment (mount, controller,
tracker of fast-moving objects - much of that is automated - large and
long-focal scope, and super-high-speed camera) they use to film the
shuttle during takeoff, or the missiles, etcetera.
Stuff like that is crazily expensive even for many professionals.
I see it as a study which is complementary to meteor spectroscopy -
those amazing images that were posted show us very clearly the plasma,
both the shockwave in the front and the tail.
