The rock has to be sectioned and then sampled internally under sterile
conditions i.e. a core sample, before any SEM (not MRI) work.

Subject: (meteorobs) OT -Scan of intact Meteorites for Bacteria & Early
lifeforms?

Anyone know if attempts were made to do an MRI type scan on the Sudan
meteorites internally for early life forms similar to the bacteria found
in
an Antarctic meteor remnant?

And is it possible to do on a practicle(?) level for all large
previously
found non-ferric meteorites without attempting to section it?
