Meteor activity kicks into high gear in August as seen from the northern
hemisphere. The main reason for all this activity is the Perseid shower
that
peaks on August 12.

To augment Bob Lunsford's always great meteor summary, here is my Night Sky
column on the 2009 Perseids. It includes links to Mikhail Maslov's and
Jeremie Vaubaillon's sites concerning this year's expected enhanced Perseid
activity.
