After yet another cloud-plagued Perseid night (August 13th observations to
follow shortly), I got around to listening to my tape for August 12th.
Overall results: 118 Perseids and 12 other meteors in 2.64 hours of Teff
(yawn). Any enhancement in rates around 8:00UT doesn't really stand out in
the (mostly) 15-minute intervals below, but 8:00-8:30 was the best 30-minute
interval. The Perseids were bright, sporadics were few and faint, and minor
showers almost nonexistent (Aquarid complex wasn't monitored early because
of the clouds).

So he slept on a mountain.
In a sleeping bag underneath the stars
he would lie awake and count them.
And the gray fountain spray of the great Milky Way
would never let him die alone.
