(meteorobs) Aug 13/14 - Too Many Power-yawns and/or Alot Less Perseids

The IMO site showed some European observers had some decent rates around 00:00 UT on the 13th/14th, so I tried to observe last night starting five hours later, around 05:10UT (local midnight).  During the first hour, I saw one nice +1 PER, another fainter orange PER, another one or two PER and a few other meteors, but I was just too tired to rely on anything I saw or voiced into the recorder.  Way too many moments of "oh, my eyes are closed, come on - open 'em and CONCENTRATE".  That would work for maybe a few minutes, but then the power-yawns would take over, eyes get a bit bleary, and I would slowly fade into sub-conciousness again.

So, obviously, no report worth posting.  Just the observation that the Perseids profile really does exhibit a steep drop on the back-side of the curve.

Maybe I can recharge and have the weather cooperate for some KCGs Sunday morning.

Sharp eyes,
Bill
