Reminds me of observing from the Florida Keys.  Was asked more than 
once if I go out at night looking for meteorites.  I told them that's 
quite a challenge since most of the area is ocean combined with the 
meteorites not glowing in the dark under water.  They look mystified, 
so then I suggest maybe they are thinking about meteors, the things 
you see in the sky.
