I was wrong; there are now also 1 or 2 PhD positions available at Armagh
Observatory for people outside the UK. A selection round will take place
next week so it is very important to send your application ASAP (i.e., this
weekend). See http://star.arm.ac.uk/phd/phd/

If you hold a degree in science, this may be your opportunity to start a
career in professional astronomy. Armagh has a rich history in meteor
science (e.g. Ernst Öpik, David Asher), so this is a possible topic.

Hi all,

To whom it may interest: there remain several unfilled positions at Armagh
Observatory for PhD studentships starting in September 2009. Unfortunately
the funding is restricted to UK residents; positions for people from other
countries will be available early next year. Possible research topics
include meteor science!
