Hi Leo, it is now 20.40 UT and the clarity of sky her in Yorkshire is
about 75% - better than expected. As we both know the English weather
often beats us with meteor observation but the unforgettable fireballs
of the Leonids in 1998 will always keeps me optimistic.
I tend to sample the skies at hourly intervals through the night and
then observe if I think ZHR's will be worthwhile. Always expect the
unexpected despite predictions is my maxim. I will look at 04.00 UT for
the best chance and start at 23.00 UT tonight in my observations.
The superb woodcut made by the Seventh day Adventist Church of Leonids
on 13 November 1833 remains the most powerful and inspirational image of
all time in my mind.
It would be great to see any photographic imagery that you manage to
capture, good luck.
Clear skies

Hi Michael,
I'm going to try for the evening on the 17th, and hope to catch some
grazers from the peaks before midnight. We may be better placed than the
USA in that respect I think?
I'll be aiming to get my cameras going for about 8:45 UT, although the
radiant is still a few degrees below the horizon at that time (on
Exemoor), but I think grazers are still possible at this time, and I
want to make sure I don't miss any!
The weather looks very uncertain for that night though. I would say aim
for that evening, but if the weather looks bad, then go out earlier if
that looks better.
Good luck and clear skies!
