Below please find my report for this morning's Orionid display. I observed from home and was pleasantly surprised to find I did not take a large hit on my LMs, I was seeing right at +6, quite phenomenal for the 'ole backyard. The display seemed rather ordinary, given that I only observed for one hour and had a fairly tree-limited FOV, with nine ORI and 17 total meteors observed during the hour. The -6 at 09:18UT had a long duration train of 20 seconds! The only other bright member seen was a 0 magnitude. I also saw a gorgeous, slow sporadic creep up from the north which was white and had a long wake given its slow speed -- it was stunning in fact, after all the cloudy skies I have endured this year!

I was fortunate to have clear skies this morning, a rarity here for the bulk of this year, and observed for an meager hour at 5 - 6 AM local time from my back yard given that I had to be at work this morning. Although I was suffering about a 25% obscured field of view due to trees, it really seemed like a typical Orionid return with perhaps a bit more than a dozen shower members and one bright -6 fireball with a 20 second train. I'll try to have my full report up as soon as possible!
