From the newspaper clipping, the astrophycicist and NASA consultant Tom Stiff says:
"This particular chunk struck about 7:30 a.m., and Stiff said meteorites are
more abundant in the morning"
That is actually not true. Late afternoon and evening are the favourable times
of the day. That time of the day you get objects moving along with earth instead
of coming in head-on, which means lower entry speeds, which means better chances
of survival. More meteors in the morning: yes. More meteorites: no.
