This is a brief report from 4 days ago. I just returned from West Virginia only hours ago.

I observed from a roadside overlook near the summit of Spruce Knob, the highest elevation in West Virginia. The site is at 1,346 meters (4,414 feet). It is located at longitude 79d 32m 00s West longitude and 38d 41m 39s North latitude.

The observation period was 6:59 to 9:04 UT (2:59 to 5:04 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time) on 12 August. The sky was cloudless for most of the one hour and 57 minute session: there was only 10 percent cloud obscuration for 17 minutes. Limiting magnitude varied from +6.2 at the start of observation to +5.4 at the end, in nautical twilight.

Perseids: -4 (1), -2 (2), -1 (2), 0 (3), +1 (4), +2 (7), +3 (8), +4 (5), +5 (5), Total= 37

Sporadics: 0 (2), +3 (3), +4 (2) Total= 7

The -4 Perseid fireball occurred at 8:34 UT and its train lasted 12 seconds.
