August 12th - 14th, 2010
Although we were at our cabin for three nights, because the weather was so
cloudy most of the time, despite my vigilance, I was only able to get in
70 minutes of possible useful meteor data. I did see a few very bright ones
through the clouds that were probably fireballs. The brightest Perseid was
at 6:13 UT on the morning of the 13th, seen 36 minutes after it became all
cloudy. I would guess that it was -6 or so, as even Jupiter was invisible
at that time. It was followed by a -4 or so Perseid a few seconds later.
The next night, on the morning of August 14th, I saw a couple, nearly
simultanious Perseids, again through clouds, but this time they looked like
diffuse yellow light blobs darting away from the radiant. On the morning of
August 12th, I saw two -3 fireballs, one of which was an Alpha Capricornid
seen through clouds. The other was a nice yellow-green -3 Kappa Cygnid seen
in all clear skies at 5:18 UT.
