It's been a while. It was nice to do some
meteor observing again, even just counting.

13/14 December (14 December 2010 UTC)

Location: 30.43N, 97.24W (central Texas, USA)

Limiting Magnitude +5.4 (faintest star, 34 Lyn)

Focus:  Altitude 75, Azimuth 0

09:48-53 GEM 6 Other 0

10:48-53 GEM 6 Other 1
10:54-59 GEM 7 Other 0

Teff = 95 minutes = 1.583 hour

GEM = 117; Other = 4

The sky was very clear and stable throughout. I
may have seen fainter stars, but 34 Lyn was visible
throughout.

I wish I had gotten started an hour or more earlier.
After a longer nap than intended, not having a known
site, I drove too much to find a reasonable random
location. (I have found better in that direction
before.) During the session I was not warm enough,
but not badly so. I had to quit when I did because
after 11:00 (local 5:00 AM) cars started passing by
every couple of minutes! (Before that there was only
the one at about 10:45.) Oh, well, I needed to get
going home by then anyway.

By the way, I casually saw ten GEMs in the evening
before (between 3:04 and 3:43 UTC, but no Teff) from
the suburbs, LM maybe +4.5, while satellite observing
and just standing there looking up into the sky for a
while.
