Was it you, Mike- or maybe Ed-- that was involved on a thread similar
to this awhile aback.... or is this a new effort?

maybe this is a call for a hydra-headed multi- tentacled approach -
with a new meteorbs member sending new requests each week for the next
month or so....
(sometimes i have devilishly pragmatic thoughts....)

Elton,

Thanks for the reply. I had sent a few letters and calls into patrick
air force base last summer, but never got a call / reply back. A few
weeks ago I contacted PAO of Space Command. I got a reply from them
yesterday morning. Not sure if they subscribe to meteor obs or if the
echelon read my email to the list and fwd'd it to them.

They didn't have much to say:

>Mr Hankey - Per the request of NASA and the scientific community, Air
>Force Space Command (AFSPC) is currently assessing its ability to
>release meteor data. Collection of meteor data is not a primary
>mission for AFSPC, so there has never been a formal process to release
>said data. We are reviewing how this could be done.

>Thank you for your interest.

I will also try to follow up with the meteoroid office in huntsville.
Thanks for the tip on that.

I know this is probably a futile endeavour but I don't see these guys
moving the ball forward on this issue if folks aren't asking about it
and of course it never hurts to try.

Thanks,

Mike

Dr. Brown of Western Ontario used to be the person the USAF fireball
reports were released through.  None of them are in the business and
none will return phone calls.  Brown's office/Agency stopped returning
calls to me once my chastisement of the Tagish Lake Recovery

one but the Public Affairs officers return calls as they are the only
ones legally obliged to do so and they are not the ones in the know.
